In an increasingly digital world, how can platforms like Generator enhance resident engagement and build stronger communities within retirement living and build-to-rent projects?

Expectations today aren’t being set by your competitors – they’re defined by global tech leaders like Facebook and Uber. Standards for technology are high in today’s world. We expect to have everything available at our fingertips, when we need it.

With the Generator platform, we make it easy for residents to get the most out of their community by increasing visibility of the services, spaces and events available to them. Our focus is on making connections as accessible and effortless as possible.

When residents feel part of something bigger than just their unit number, they’re more likely to stay longer, recommend the community to others and strengthen its culture. The key is to give them tools that are useful, not just shiny and new.

Feedback from clients often highlights challenges with communication and service requests. How does your platform address these pain points effectively?

With Generator, everything happens in one place. Residents can log service requests, track their progress and receive updates in real time. For managers, the system keeps things moving without manual progress checks, by automating the workflows so nothing slips through the cracks. The result is less back-and-forth and a smoother experience.

It also creates a clear and accountable process for every request. By removing the guesswork and cutting down on unnecessary follow-ups, Generator helps teams respond faster, resolve issues more efficiently and keep everyone in the loop.

Data privacy and security are critical for resident-facing tech. How do you ensure trust while collecting and using community data?

A really important topic, especially in this age of constant information collection and with an increasing focus globally on privacy and data ownership. It’s not just about meeting legal requirements, it’s also about earning and keeping the trust of the people whose data you hold. Communication is key. You have to be clear about what data is collected, how it’s and stored and why it’s being collected, making sure residents can also understand the benefits it brings to their experience. It needs to be handled responsibly, with systems in place to protect it from misuse or unauthorised access. Data without trust is a liability; with trust, it’s an asset that can transform a community.

How can digital resident engagement tools support operational efficiency for property managers while also improving the quality of life for residents?

Every hour that we save property managers on admin is an hour that can be spent building relationships. Happier residents mean better retention, fewer complaints and stronger word of mouth, that’s a business case with real value.

It’s not just about time saved. It’s about the quality of interactions that time makes possible, when managers can shift their focus from paperwork to people.

Looking forward, what new features or integrations do you see as game changers for resident experience platforms in the living sector?

The future isn’t necessarily about adding more features, it’s about the right features working seamlessly together to create an effortless experience.

AI is set to be a real game changer for the living sector. We’re exploring its potential through two key lenses: streamlining operations for managers and delivering an elevated experience for residents. We’re excited to see where this journey takes us and the opportunities it unlocks.
